SLO County volunteer who died at the Oceano Dunes to be honored in Colorado this weekend

A San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's search-and-rescue volunteer who died about a year ago in the line of duty will be honored at the National Emergency Medical Services Memorial Service in Colorado Springs on Saturday. Locals can watch it live on the Internet.

Christopher Meadows, 24, died in an all-terrain vehicle accident while responding to a medical call at the Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area on May 24, 2009.

He worked for San Luis Ambulance for nearly three years.

The event, which honors the 25 EMS workers lost in the line of duty, will be streamed live at 5 p.m. on Saturday at http://live.nemsms.org.

Detective Stuart McDonald and Search and Rescue Team member Robert McCain will travel to Colorado to represent the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Department.
