Hundreds of vintage gas engines and tractors on display at Santa Margarita Ranch

Hundreds of vintage gas engines and tractors will be on display at Santa Margarita Ranch this weekend. Visitors can ride a steam train on a two-mile track for $5 per ride, organizers said. Hay baling and other demonstrations are also planned.

The event showcases about 300 tractors, 300 to 400 antique gas engines and other vintage farm equipment, said Ben Ostini, president of branch No. 27 of the Early Day Gas Engine & Tractor Association Inc. The event, honoring the association’s 50th anniversary, is co-hosted by branches 3, 8 and 27.

Santa Margarita Ranch is at 9000 Yerba Buena Ave. in Santa Margarita. The event will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Saturday; and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $10 for one day and $25 for three days. Children 10 and younger get in for free. For questions, call Ben Ostini at 423-4865
