The girl found in a Paso Robles apartment complex swimming pool last week died Saturday evening, Children’s Hospital Central California spokeswoman Micheline Golden said.
Elizabeth Calaty, 9, from Lackawanna, N.Y., was visiting the area with her family, those close to her said Monday.
Her family declined to comment further, saying they’d prefer to keep the situation private as they grieve.
Elizabeth was found in the pool on the evening of May 4 at the Dry Creek Apartments in Paso Robles, city Emergency Services Chief Ken Johnson said.

Firefighters estimated that she had been in the pool for about three minutes.
Paso Robles resident Katrina Smith and another woman who declined to give her name to the media had already begun administering CPR before emergency services personnel arrived.
Firefighters then administered a number of drugs, cleared her airway and were able to regain a pulse, Johnson said, adding that the girl was taken to Twin Cities Community Hospital in Templeton.
On Wednesday, authorities took Elizabeth to Children’s Hospital Central California in Madera, Golden said.
Elizabeth was in critical condition at the Central Valley hospital Friday afternoon.
