Volunteers are needed for the 2nd Annual Paso Robles Festival of the Arts set for May 29 at Downtown City Park.

Setting up the park, assisting the artists, working with youth and greeting attendees are among the ways the public can help before and after the event.

Individuals and community service groups are encouraged to apply at www.pasoartfestival.com.

The arts event will feature a Plein Air Quick Draw & Auction, followed by a fine art show and sculpture garden, art demonstrations, a public mural project, hands-on children’s art classrooms, and live music and performances.

Free scenic educational tours of the Salinas River Corridor will also be offered. For more information about volunteer opportunities, contact volunteer coordinator Suzanne Robitaille at 237-3870.

Oceano Community Services District General Manager Raffaele Montemurro said he has agreed to a contract to lead the agency through June 2015.

In a 3-2 vote on April 28, the board offered the contract, he said.

He was hired Oct. 12, 2009, at an annual pay of $78,500. The contract raises that to $87,500 July 1, with raises of 2 percent and 2.5 percent, respectively, in his third and fifth years.

Board members Jim Hill, Mary Lucey and Lori Angello voted in favor of the new contract, and directors Pamela Dean and Vern Dahl voted against it.
