A county sheriff’s deputy today performed CPR and “brought back” a 2-year-old who was found face down in a pool, according to sheriff’s officials.
Deputies responded to the call at 1:38 p.m. in the 900 block of Orchard Road in Nipomo, said sheriff’s spokesman Rob Bryn.
The boy’s mother had put him down for a nap and found him facedown in the pool about 20 minutes later, Bryn said. When deputies arrived, the child was completely unresponsive, he said.
Deputy Jason Nadal arrived and began infant CPR, which he continued to do until medics arrived. The boy was taken by ambulance to Marian Medical Center in Santa Maria. The last Bryn heard, he said, the child was crying.
One engine from Cal Fire/San Luis Obispo County Fire also responded to the call, according to Cal Fire Capt. Tony Ramirez.
