Newly confirmed California Lt. Gov. Abel Maldonado will be honored with an inauguration in Sacramento on Tuesday.
The Republican from Santa Maria previously represented San Luis Obispo County in the state Senate, and before that, in the Assembly.
He was confirmed earlier this week by the Assembly to the post of lieutenant governor, which was vacated when Democrat John Garamendi was elected to Congress.
The official inaugural ceremony will occur at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday on the east steps of the Capitol. An open house in Maldonado's office will follow at 2:30 p.m. The inaugural reception will follow at 5:30 p.m. at a location to be announced.
