Tim Olivas was formally sworn in as the Morro Bay police chief at the Morro Bay City Council meeting Monday.

Olivas joined the department as a police commander in 2004 after 14 years at the state Department of Fish and Game. He replaces outgoing chief John DeRohan, who retired Friday.
