Caltrans honors those who died on the job

At a public ceremony Thursday in San Luis Obispo, Caltrans honored workers from the state transportation agency who died on the job.

During the 20th annual Worker Memorial Ceremony at Caltrans offices on Higuera Street, a rose for each employee killed on duty was placed atop a memorial rock that displays their engraved names. Since 1924, 174 Caltrans employees have been killed on the job, eight in the Central Coast district.
