NEAR MONTAÑA DE ORO STATE PARK — CHP flight crews and 15 technical rescue team members from fire departments throughout San Luis Obispo County took part in annual training Tuesday.
Several rescue scenarios were practiced. In one, various team members practiced rescuing a victim with a helicopter from a 30-foot-deep sinkhole on PG&E property near Montaña de Oro, said Tim Wilcox, a fire captain/paramedic with Cal Fire/San Luis Obispo County Fire Department. Participants also practiced an open-water rescue about 300 to 400 yards offshore.
The technical rescue team includes members from Cal Fire, and the Cambria, Morro Bay, Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo fire departments.
