Pay off SLO County library fines and fight hunger too

In celebration of National Library Week, San Luis Obispo County public libraries are helping to fight hunger in the community with the Food 4 Fines program.

Food 4 Fines week starts Sunday and goes until April 17 at all county public libraries. Each branch will accept one non-perishable food item in place of one overdue fine or hold fee that does not exceed $1.

Donated food items will be given to the Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County, which serves 40,000 SLO county residents through 200 local agencies.

There is no limit for the amount of fees covered by food donations. Fees for lost or damaged items are not included in the program.
