Paso Robles teen accused of beating boy at house party, sending him to hospital

Police say they arrested a Paso Robles teen who is accused of beating a boy badly enough to send him to a local hospital’s intensive-care unit.

Maxwell Tobias Baker, 19, was arrested on suspicion of battery after officers investigated the boy's injuries, according to the Paso Robles Police Department.

He is accused of beating up a 17-year-old boy at a Wednesday night house party on Park Street, police said.The beating caused the boy — whose identity was not disclosed — head injuries, according to police.

The hospital notified authorities early on Thursday morning that they were treating the boy.

He was later transfererd to the intensive-care unit of another local hospital. Police declined to say which hospitals treated the boy.

His injuries are not considered life-threatening, police said.
