Paso Robles police officers surrounded a home early Tuesday morning after a man who was reportedly suicidal ran inside with a rifle.
Officers were called to a home in the 900 block of Turtle Creek Drive at 12:50 a.m., according to a news release from the Paso Robles Police Department. When they arrived, they saw a man pull a rifle out of the back of a vehicle.
When the man saw the officers, he took the rifle and ran into a nearby residence, even after police asked him to stop.
Officers immediately surrounded the home and began talking with the man via cell phone. After approximately an hour-and-a-half, the man put down the gun and walked out of the home.
The man was taken to County Mental Health Services and admitted for evaluation. No criminal charges are pending.
No one was injured during the incident. Officers found three rifles and a pistol inside the home.
