Helpers were busy Tuesday planting 50 trees at Vineyard Elementary School in Templeton. The trees, intended for extra shade at the North County school, were donated by Valley Yellow Pages and the San Luis Obispo Parks, Open Space and Trails Foundation.

Other groups also contributed to the event, which was framed by three student assemblies during the day of presentations; they include the Kiwanis and Rotary clubs of Templeton, California Conservation Corps and the Grizzly Youth Academy, among others.

The project was funded with $3,000 in donations. Valley Yellow Pages donated $2,500 and the other $500 came from individual donations of $100 each, organizers said.
