A body was found in Pismo Creek near Ira Lease Park on Monday afternoon.
A hobbyist photographer came across the body of a man at approximately 3:20 p.m., according to Cmdr. Jake Miller of the Pismo Beach Police Department.
The man was described as white and in his 40s, Miller said. Investigators believe he is a local resident, but are not releasing a name until a positive identification has been made.
The body had been in the creek for more than two days, but less than two weeks, Miller said. There were no obvious signs of foul play, but because the body had been exposed to the elements for so long, a cause of death was not immediately known. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.

Until a cause of death is known, the death will be considered suspicious, Miller said.
