Kona’s Deli owner Paula Boggs says that the longstanding sandwich shop off Foothill Boulevard is nearly destroyed.
An early morning fire Wednesday burnt the Cabo San Luis restaurant beyond repair and caused damage to several nearby businesses. Initial damage estimates put the loss at more than $1 million.
Boggs, who has owned the business for eight years, said that she hopes to stay in the same location because the business has been there since 1989. Twelve employees, mostly Cuesta College and Cal Poly students, are temporarily out of jobs.
The nearby Rock N Roll hair salon was not damaged in the fire but remains closed indefinitely until access to the building is granted and utilities are restored.
