The Oceano Community Services District’s Board of Directors will discuss tonight whether to reconsider the appointment of Director Lori Angello to the board.
Angello was appointed Feb. 10 by a 2-1 vote of the board. The seat was vacated by Barbara Mann, who resigned at the end of 2009.
Director Vern Dahl recused himself, citing a possible conflict of interest because he has done business with Angello and her husband at their ATV rental business.
Directors Mary Lucey and Jim Hill voted in favor of Angello’s appointment. Director Pamela Dean voted against.

The board is expected to discuss whether any procedures in the voting process were violated or should be upheld, and if the district technically needed three votes in favor of Angello’s appointment based on code.
The board also could choose to have voters decide on the appointment in the Nov. 2 general election and keep the seat vacant until then with only four out of five directors serving.
Angello would be due for election on Nov. 2, County Clerk-Recorder Julie Rodewald said.
Calling for a vote of candidates in the November election wouldn’t cost the district any additional money, Rodewald said.
If the board doesn’t choose to proceed through election, or appoint Angello, the County Board of Supervisors could decide who would fill the position.
The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at district offices, 1655 Front St.
