The Arroyo Grande Village Flower Shop is back in business.
The new owner, Tina McLane, reopened in December after remodeling the quaint building at 150 W. Branch St. McLane said much care was taken to retain the original character of the location, including old plank floors, she said. The fact that the shop is at the entrance to the Village has not been lost on her, said McLane, who wanted to make a “big statement” to welcome people to town.
“When it went out of business, it was an opportunity that I couldn’t resist,” said McLane, who has been in the flower business for 30 years. “I always wanted to be there (in the Village).”
Customers should expect a greater variety of take-home flowers, as well as those for global delivery. The shop, with three employees, will be open six days a week.

McLane said some of her floral designers have 25 years of experience. She is also using the talents of Terry Harper, who was the original Arroyo Grande Flower Shop owner in the 1970s and 1980s.
“Terry has her own fans,” she said. “She grew up here, and people have known her forever. She has her own customer base. She knows every farmer and every farmer family.”
So far, McLane said the feedback has been positive.
“I’m just excited to be there,” she said.
