The Cayucos Pier’s gate shut was shut this morning, and it is expected to stay closed until hazardous conditions and high tides subside. What usually happens after a bout of big storms is that the wooden pier is then inspected by officials for damage before it is reopened.
Downed power lines on Pacific Avenue in Cayucos, between 22nd and 23rd streets, brought out the Cayucos Fire Department for a few hours this morning. The local agency used two trucks to close the street until Pacific Gas & Electric could arrive to fix the problem.
“We had a couple of boats come loose, but we tied them back down,” said Becka Kelly, who is an employee of the Morro Bay Harbor Patrol. She and a colleague were checking on the condition of various points on the waterfront at about 10:30 a.m. “I think we’re through the worst of it now.”
