Three sailboats wash ashore at Port San Luis in high surf and winds

High surf and winds drove three sailboats aground at Port San Luis this morning.

Two of the boats are on Olde Port Beach. The third was blown onto the rocks near the base of the Cal Poly Pier, according to harbor personnel.

One of the boats is the No Problema, a 30-foot Olson racing boat, said owner Ron Pigeon, of Arroyo Grande. The mast was blown off but the boat showed no other damage.

“I’ll try to salvage it, if I can,” Pigeon said.

Coast Guard officials told Pigeon to remove the boat’s gas tank as soon as possible. The other boat on the beach does not have a name. No information was available about the boat on the rocks.
