Several Central Coast dentists will offer free services Feb. 5 to children ages 2 to 18 who would otherwise not have access to dental care.
The event is part of the fourth annual Give Kids a Smile campaign, a nationwide effort backed by the American Dental Association in honor of National Children’s Dental Health Month in February.
Parents can call 489-5559 for details on attending a Jan. 30 prescreening, where x-rays will be taken, and a treatment plan will be created for the event.
Dentists will provide care ranging from preventative cleanings and sealants to restorative fills and oral hygiene instruction.
Last year’s event served more than 100 children locally and provided more than $175,000 worth of dental services in two days.

The San Luis Obispo Rideshare is looking for artwork to adorn all Bike Month 2010 letterhead, posters, flyers and T-shirts and will be hosting the Bike Month 2010 Image Design Competition.
The winner will be awarded $300 and offered a contract to develop all promotional materials.
The national event takes place annually in May and encourages the use of bicycles for getting around instead of driving.
This year’s theme is Life in the Bike Lane, and aims to show San Luis Obispo County residents that the world would have less air pollution and spending on oil, and people would have better health in the next decade if they drove less and rode bikes more often.
Participants must submit their image to Rideshare by Feb. 5.
All entries will be posted on www.rideshare.org making it available for a community vote.
Voting will close Feb. 19, and the winner will be announced at the March 3 Bike Month meeting.
