The San Luis Obispo City/County Library is offering a series of workshops aimed at helping job seekers. The sessions are to provide information about interviewing practices, job resources and using search engines.

The classes will be held today, March 20 and April 17 from 9 to 11 a.m. in the San Luis Obispo City/County Library Computer Lab.

Sessions on the proper use of the GrantStation Web site — which is available to use free of charge at library branches in San Luis Obispo, Arroyo Grande, Atascadero, Morro Bay, Los Osos, Nipomo and Cambria — are set for Tuesday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 9 a.m. at the San Luis Obispo City/County Library. Registration is required because space is limited to 15 people.

The Dana Adobe Nipomo Amigos will host a history talk on Jim Beckwourth in celebration of Black History Month.

Beckwourth, who died in 1866, rose out of slavery to cross the United States as a noted hunter, tracker and trailblazer.

The talk will be held at 1 p.m. today at the Dana Adobe, 671 Oakglen Ave., Nipomo.
