UPDATE: Sheriff’s spokesman Brian Hascall said that the body found in Nipomo this morning was a Hispanic male and the department is attempting to find and notify next of kin now.
“We’re asking for the public’s help,” Hascall said. “If anybody knows of somebody who’s missing, or what might have happened in this death, we’re asking them to please contact the Sheriff’s Department.”
Hascall said the department isn’t discussing whether foul play is evident or any other physical evidence, citing the ongoing investigation. The man was found in a dirt area between the roadway and the broccoli fields that make up much of the agricultural area. The person who found the body isn’t believed to have known him or to have been connected with his death in any way, Hascall said.
The Bonita School Road re-opened about 4:10 p.m., Hascall said, after being closed for most of the day during the search of the area for physical evidence.
