Man pulls out gun as he tries to rob two security guards at Mustang Village in SLO

A man who tried to rob two security guards at gunpoint at a San Luis Obispo apartment complex ran off after one of the guards kicked him.

The two guards were patrolling the Mustang Village complex near building 111 at 12:20 a.m. Friday when a man wearing a ski mask and goggles ran at them, according to San Luis Obispo police. The suspect pushed one guard to the ground and then demanded money from the second guard.

When the guard said he had no money, the suspect pulled a semiautomatic handgun from his waistband and approached the guard on the ground, according to police. The suspect again demanded money, but the guard on the ground responded by kicking the suspect in the mid-section of his body.

The suspect then kicked the guard twice in the rib area and then ran away. He was last seen heading northbound, toward the rear of the apartment complex.

Neither of the security guards - one 28 and one 33 years old - was injured.

Officers were not able to find the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 781-7312 or Crime Stoppers at 549-STOP.
