Facts and misinformation about climate change will occupy members of the South County Democratic Club at their monthly meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Grover Beach Community Center, at 12th Street and Trouville Avenue.
Ray Weymann, retired astronomer and member of the American Academy of Science, and Karen Merriam of the Santa Lucia Sierra Club Chapter will discuss climate change and practical action the community can take.
Weymann will summarize the basic science behind global warming and the evidence offered for it. He will describe the rationale for reducing the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

He also will examine myths about climate change.
Merriam, chairwoman of the Sierra Club executive committee, will discuss her local work “to address critical issues of policy and practice related to climate change.”
Members and the public are invited to a 6:30 p.m. social hour, which will include coffee and desserts.
