A man was arrested after allegedly hitting two people with a metal pipe in downtown San Luis Obispo on Monday night.

Police were called to the 700 block of Marsh Street at 9:09 p.m. after people saw the assault. Witnesses pointed police to a home in the 1300 block of Broad Street, where Robert Lee Price, 45, was found hiding in the backyard.

Price, a transient living in San Luis Obispo, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and taken to County Jail, where bail was set at $25,000.

One of the victims, Donald Regan, was taken by ambulance to a local hospital and treated for a contusion and significant laceration to the top of his head, according to police. The 46-year-old, also a transient living in San Luis Obispo, was later released.

A second victim, Paul Bramon, declined medical treatment. The 30-year-old Atascadero resident suffered an injured right elbow while he was trying to stop Price from assaulting Regan, according to police.

Price is suspected of other recent assaults in San Luis Obispo, according to police. Anyone with information is asked to call the police department at 781-7317 or Crime Stoppers at 549-STOP.
