Country star Keith Urban will perform at the California Mid-State Fair next year, fair officials announced Thursday.
Urban is the first act slated to perform at the fair, which runs July 21 through Aug. 1, 2010.
Born in New Zealand and raised in Australia, Urban moved to the United States in 1992.
After stints with popular country acts Alan Jackson and Brooks and Dunn, Urban released his self-titled American debut in 1999, earning Top New Male Vocalist honors at the Academy of Country Music Awards in 2001.

Urban’s country music fame is rivaled only by his marriage to Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman.
Urban is set to perform July 28, 2010, at the Paso Robles Event Center, 2198 Riverside Ave. in Paso Robles. It’s his third appearance at the California Mid-State Fair.
Tickets, which cost $50 to $100, go on sale Jan. 22. They can be purchased by calling 1-800-909-FAIR (3247) or visiting www.midstatefair.com.
