Cal Poly has named a new laboratory in its Construction Innovations Center to honor a longtime supporter.
The naming of the Simpson Strong-Tie Materials Demonstration Laboratory follows a longtime partnership with the manufacturer. The facility is part of the College of Architecture and Environmental Design, which includes the Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, Landscape Architecture, and City and Regional Planning departments.
The naming of the lab — announced at the CSU Board of Trustees meeting on Nov. 17 — came after a donation of $500,000 by Simpson Strong-Tie to help fund it.
Simpson Strong-Tie is a structural connector manufacturer with more than 2,000 employees. The lab will be the largest component in the university’s Construction Innovations Center.
