A man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly held a woman against her will and fled with a 4-year-old child in his vehicle.
Police said Edgar Gonzalez-Gutierrez, 22, forced a female companion into a locked room of a residence in the 400 block of South 13th Street about 2:15 p.m. Tuesday.
When the woman escaped the residence and fled on foot, Gonzalez-Gutierrez then chased her down in a vehicle and attempted to kidnap her again but was stopped by passing motorists, police said.
Gonzalez-Gutierrez, who police said fled the area with the 4-year-old child in the vehicle, evaded officers for about an hour until they contacted him in the 200 block of Five Cities Drive in Pismo Beach. He was arrested without incident and the child was later found unharmed at a home in Grover Beach, police said.
