Michael LeBrun has been named the interim general manager of the Nipomo Community Services District.
LeBrun was named to the post Wednesday by the district’s board of directors. He replaces Bruce Buel, who recently retired because of cancer.
LeBrun will start on Nov. 30 and will be in place until a permanent general manager is named, said Lisa Bognuda, assistant general manager.
Until he took his new job, LeBrun was the special projects manager in the South County for the Land Conservancy of San Luis Obispo County.

Buel took over as district manager in February 2006. Building a water pipeline from Santa Maria has been one of the district’s top priorities during Buel’s tenure.
Buel is perhaps best known as general manager of the Los Osos Community Services District during its contentious effort to build a sewer system. Buel was placed on administrative leave from that job after a majority of the district’s board of directors was voted out of office in a special election in 2005.
