Hotel owner yanked off tourism board by SLO council

The San Luis Obispo City Council voted unanimously tonight to remove a hotel owner from the board of the tourism business improvement district.

Council members made the decision about Robert Mueller, owner of the Days Inn and the Donnington Motor Inn, because city staff said Mueller has fallen behind in payments to the city.

Mueller’s hotels reportedly owe $69,000 between unpaid hotel taxes and unpaid assessments to support the tourism board.

Mueller spoke to the council, expressing dissatisfaction with how the improvement district operated.
