Joining with students from UCSB, UCLA and USC, Cal Poly Army Reserve Officer Training Corps cadets are conducting field exercises Friday and today.
The training includes CH-47 Chinook military helicopter flights, land navigation, obstacle and paintball assault courses, rappelling off a 34-foot tower and basic rifle marksmanship, according to the university’s Department of Military Science.
Cadets participate in this training to become proficient in several basic soldiering skills they need to become commissioned officers in the U.S. Army.
Training started at Cal Poly, but most of it takes place at Camp San Luis Obispo off Highway 1.
