An Atascadero man and his girlfriend were arrested Friday on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance and endangering two children who tested positive for methamphetamine.
Parolee Luis Sanchez Gonzales, 30, was arrested by detectives with the San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit and parole agents after he allegedly tried to flush narcotics down a toilet at a house in the 5300 block of Traffic Way in Atascadero. Ana Renee Escobedo, 31, his girlfriend, was also arrested for allegedly attempting to hide Gonzales from authorities.
The children, age 6 and 11, were taken into protective custody by the Child Welfare Services. Detectives say that the children could have been exposed to the drug by the adults smoking methamphetamine or by ingesting it.
Gonzales and Escobedo are both in County Jail on $100,000 bail.
