A patrol rifle and other items were stolen from the car of a San Luis Obispo Sheriff's deputy while he was off duty.
The theft happened at the deputy's Atascadero home sometime between 10 p.m. Sunday and 7 a.m. Monday, according to sheriff's officials.
The vehicle was locked at the time of the burglary.
Some of the stolen items have already been recovered, according to officials, but the rifle has not.
