CHP still investigating why crash victim was driving wrong way on Hwy. 101

The California Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into why a Morro Bay woman was driving the wrong way on Highway 101 in Paso Robles when she was killed in a collision.

Officers believe that Caroline V. Huetter, 23, entered Highway 101 at Niblick Road driving south in the northbound lane early Monday morning.

“She basically got on the offramp,” said Officer Bill Irons.

There is no indication alcohol was involved; however, toxicology tests are still pending. Officers are contacting Huetter’s family and friends in an effort to find out where she was coming from.

Huetter's 1990 Honda collided with a 2008 Nissan driven by Justin R. Miller, 27, of San Luis Obispo at 4:15 a.m. Miller was taken to Twin Cities Community Hospital with major injuries. His passenger, 25-year-old Tina M. Jenkins of Daly City, was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.
