UPDATE, 1:19 p.m.: Power has been restored at Santa Margarita Elementary School.
12:25 post:Most of the North County's 1,800 power outages are in Santa Margarita, where 1,500 users have been without power since mid-morning, according to Pacific Gas & Electric Co.
Santa Margarita Elementary School at 22070 H St., with 280 students, is also without power.
High winds caused a tree to fall into power lines near the school, PG&E spokesman Kory Raftery said.

The elementary school's outage began around 10:30 a.m., officials with Atascadero Unified School District estimated, and crews are currently working to fix the problem.
