Former Santa Maria City Councilman Marty Mariscal has joined the increasingly crowded Republican primary to succeed Assemblyman Sam Blakeslee in the 33rd District next year.
Mariscal just returned from the California Republican convention in Indian Wells, where he attended workshops and listened to presentations by statewide candidates.
Mariscal serves on multiple statewide boards as an appointee of Gov. Schwarzenegger, including the California State Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians and the Board of Chiropractic Examiners.
Mariscal joins Santa Maria Planning Commissioner Henrietta ‘Etta’ Waterfield, San Luis Obispo County Supervisor Katcho Achadjian, and Paso Robles Commissioner Fred Strong in the GOP primary battle.
