McGrath said he tendered his resignation from Port San Luis this week. His last day on the job will be Oct. 23, and he will start his new job Nov. 9.
In August, the Port San Luis Harbor District Board of Commissioners voted 3-2 not to renew McGrath’s employment contract, which was set to expire Nov. 30. No reason was given.
As a result of the August vote, the harbor district has been searching for an interim general manager and met this week in closed session to interview candidates.

The San Mateo County Harbor District is roughly twice the size of Port San Luis. It operates two facilities, Pillar Point Harbor at Half Moon Bay in Princeton and Oyster Point Marina Park in the city of South San Francisco.
