More than 200 injured veterans and their supporters are expected to ride through San Luis Obispo County on Oct. 20 and 21 as part of the annual United Healthcare Ride 2 Recovery California Challenge.
The cyclists are expected to take off from Palo Alto on Oct. 18 to begin a seven-day, 516-mile ride along the coast to raise money for physical and psychological rehabilitation programs for injured veterans.
They are expected to cycle from Carmel to San Simeon on Oct. 20. From there, they will pedal to Pismo Beach and rest overnight on Oct. 21 before moving on to Solvang the next day.
The public is encouraged to gather along the daily ride routes to support the cyclists.
