The Mass schedule at Mission San Miguel has been changed. Saturday Mass is only at 5 p.m.; there is no morning Mass. Sunday Masses are at 7 a.m. and noon (changed from 11 a.m.) in English and at 6 p.m. in Spanish.
This schedule saves the pastor from having to make two round trips on Sunday mornings to Our Lady of Ransom in San Ardo, which is part of the San Miguel parish.

A cautionary tale
Last Sunday afternoon a car stopped too close to the railroad tracks on a private crossing in San Miguel. The oncoming Amtrak engine clipped it and turned it sideways.
Although the front of the car was smashed, the two women inside emerged very thankfully unscathed.
The train is wider than the tracks, so it is imperative to stop at least 2 or more feet from the outside edges of the railroad ties if there are no guard arms.
Always stop and look carefully both ways when crossing an unguarded crossing. You cannot hear a train coming toward you. At a guarded crossing, make certain there is plenty of room for your vehicle on the other side before crossing the tracks.
