Rideshare Week starts Monday and the San Luis Obispo Council of Government’s Regional Rideshare program is challenging commuters to carpool, walk, bike or take the bus to their destinations instead of driving alone.

Doing so can improve health, save money and conserve resources while minimizing traffic congestion on roadways at a time when transportation funding is lacking, according to a news release from the council of governments, an association of local governments in the San Luis Obispo County region.

During Rideshare Week, which runs through Oct. 9, commuters can also win up to $100 daily by solving clues related to smart commuting through #HiddenCashSLO on Rideshare’s social media accounts: on Twitter @hiddencashslo; Instagram @slorideshare; and on Facebook/Rideshare.

Rideshare Week also coincides with International Walk to School Day on Oct. 7. For more information, call 511 or visit https://rideshare.org.
