Cal Poly has announced that University President Jeffrey Armstrong’s chief of staff is leaving for a new position.
Betsy Kinsley has served as a key adviser to Armstrong since 2011. Her last day will be Oct. 1.
Kinsley will be moving on to a new position at Incline Village Community Hospital near Lake Tahoe in Nevada to lead fund development and foundation board and external relations, according to Cal Poly.
Her husband, Cole, was born and raised in the Lake Tahoe area and has the opportunity to work for a general contracting firm, Armstrong wrote.
“Betsy has brought an unstinting commitment to Cal Poly and a reputation as an honest broker of information and ideas,” Armstrong wrote in a campus letter to colleagues on Wednesday. “She has always strived to do what is best for the entire university, and she has always put Cal Poly’s interests above her own. On a personal level, I will miss her cheerful disposition and her candid, direct and thoughtful advice.”
Armstrong said he’s assessing the best interim leadership structure for his office after her departure, including Kinsley’s role in public affairs and community relations.
