A 22-year-old man from Big Sur was killed when his truck went down an embankment on Nacimiento Lake Drive and rolled several times Saturday morning, the CHP said.
The driver of a white Ford F-150 failed to negotiate a curve sometime between midnight and 5 a.m. north of Heritage Loop Road, according to a CHP collision report. The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle as the pickup rolled multiple times. The pickup then crashed into a tree and burst into flames. The fire, which burned one-eighth of an acre and destroyed the truck, went out on its own because of the cool temperatures and recent rain.
The CHP is awaiting autopsy results. Authorities did not release the man's name, pending notification of next of kin.
