The fourth Cal Poly graduate to be selected by NASA to be an astronaut will speak at the university on Thursday at a free event that is open to the public.

Victor Glover will give a talk, “Engineering Possibilities,” at 7 p.m. at Spanos Theatre.

The presentation will include discussion on the benefits of science, technology, engineering and math education — as well as on developing a strong work ethic.

Glover, a 1999 graduate, was a Cal Poly wrestler and football player.

The former Navy lieutenant commander was among eight candidates named to NASA’s 21st astronaut class in 2013.

He was selected from a candidate pool of more than 6,100, and he’s now eligible for mission assignments, having completed his training.
