At least one person is reported dead Tuesday afternoon after a vehicle rolled at least 200 feet down a cliff off Highway 46 near the Vista Point summit.

Details are scarce, but a CHP spokeswoman said the agency received a report at 4:01 p.m. of a vehicle rollover.

Cal Fire officials said four patients were removed from the vehicle and at least one died. Neither agency immediately knew the condition of the other three occupants or whether they had been taken to a local hospital.

Neither agency could immediately confirm the exact location of the incident, but Cal Fire said the nearest cross street was Camino Del Capitan.

The Coroner’s Office responded to the scene at 4:59 p.m., according to CHP logs.

The CHP spokeswoman said a H70 helicopter and two patrol units responded to the scene.
