There will be a celebratory flag-raising at 11 a.m. Saturday at the old Pleasant Valley School on the corner of Estrella and Ranchita Canyon roads, just east of San Miguel. Following the ceremony, hot dogs, ice cream and sodas will be available for $5, and the century-old schoolhouse will be open until 4 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Pleasant Valley Community Foundation.

The San Miguel Resource Connection continues to move forward with its history project. If you are a second-, third- or perhaps fourth-generation San Miguel pioneer family, the resource connection would like to record your family history. It is always seeking stories about “growing up in San Miguel” and old photos. Members also need help conducting interviews, transferring recordings to computer, proofreading, organizing and filing documents and researching. If you have something historical to share or donate — or if you have skills to share and an interest in preserving history — please contact members at 2011SMRC@ gmail.com. Also, check out the history discussion board at www.discover sanmiguel.com, where you may read and share information. Thank you in advance.
