Driving on Highway 101 this week? Expect delays as crews patch potholes

Road work

Drivers on Highway 101 can expect traffic delays this week as crews work to repair scores of potholes, according to Caltrans.

The right (No. 2) lane of northbound Highway 101 from Santa Maria to Nipomo will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and Friday in an effort to “enhance safety for all travelers,” the state road agency said in a news release.

Message and directional signs are in place to alert travelers of the roadwork, the release said.

“A roughly 5,000-foot stretch of roadway will be repaired using roughly 250 tons of asphalt over the next two days,” Caltrans said in the release. “An estimated 250 potholes will be filled in.”

Caltrans advised drivers to allow for extra time during their commutes through the area.
