An intense fire that erupted on the 300 block of Vashon Street in North Morro Bay on Sunday night has left three people displaced, Morro Bay Fire Department Chief Steve Knuckles said.
The home that was on fire is a “complete loss,” and two adjacent structures have minor to moderate damage, Knuckles said. The three displaced will not be able to return to their home, according to Knuckles.
The Morro Bay Fire Department responded to the flames that were less than a block from Highway 1 shortly after 6 p.m. Crews attacked the fire from multiple angles and employed a ladder truck parked on Tahiti Street to direct water from above the flames.
Some neighbors sprayed their homes with water for defense, and police blocked off streets in the area while firefighters worked to put out the flames, which continued late into the night. According to a tweet from Morro Bay Fire, crews were still overhauling the scene at 10:30 p.m.
