A woman who reported her “bedroom was on fire and she was trapped inside” escaped to safety Friday after flames engulfed her Arroyo Grande mobile home.

At about 5:25 p.m., Cal Fire engines were dispatched to the scene of a fire at the Mesa Dunes Mobile Home Park at 765 Mesa View Drive. The blaze, which was held to one mobile home, was contained by 5:50 p.m.

The reporting party was able to evacuate the home after initially reporting that she was trapped in her bedroom, according to emergency radio traffic.

Cal Fire said crews would remain on scene for several hours mopping up.

The crews at Modesto Fire Station No. 5 responded to 4,200 calls last year. Whether it be a fire engine, a police officer or an ambulance, if its lights and sirens are on, here are the basics for yielding to emergency vehicles.
