Homes destroyed, pets killed in fire near Lake Nacimiento

Update 9:40 p.m.

Two homes were destroyed in the fire, and one partially damaged, Cal Fire spokesman Chris Elms said Monday night.

According to Elms, the house where the fire originated was completely leveled by the blaze, as well as one neighboring home.

The homeowner of the partially damaged house was there at the time of the incident, but no injuries were reported.

The fire has been contained to those three structures, and no others are threatened at this time, Elms said.

Crews will be on scene mopping up for the next several hours, he said.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

Cal Fire is responding to structure fires near Lake Nacimiento on Monday evening.

The fires are in the 4200 block of Allen Road, near High Meadow Road.

A single-family home is fully involved, and the fire has spread to two other neighboring homes, according to Cal Fire.

Power lines are down.

Some witnesses have reported the surrounding vegetation also appears to have caught fire.
