Two people were rescued from a submerged boat near Montaña de Oro State Park on Monday night.

According to Cal Fire, authorities were called to the scene of a possible surf rescue about 6:25 p.m. for an overturned vessel in the water.

The Coast Guard safely retrieved the two occupants from the vessel, and as of 6:40 p.m., they were en route to Morro Bay. The boat was left in the water to wash ashore.

Correction: A previous version of this story incorrectly identified the type of vessel involved in the rescue.
